  Water Absorbing Crystals

Each tiny crystal on average can swell up to over 300 times it’s original volume, holding water and fertiliser nutrients right in the root zone of your new lawn, plants or trees for a much longer period. The roots of your lawn, plants or trees can then tap into the stored water and nutrients from the crystals and feed as required.

 

What Happens In Your Garden WITHOUT Crystals?

Normally, rain/irrigated water will fall on your lawn, soak in and as it passes down by the roots, they will take up whatever they can. Unfortunately, roots can only take up a certain amount of water at a time. Therefore, with the water in the soil only being available for a limited period, your lawn will quickly begin to suffer and hence you will need to water it again so that the roots can continue to feed.

   

How The Crystals Work

The WATER ABSORBING CRYSTALS are sealed in their dry state in an airtight bag. Once opened, the crystals will begin absorbing any available moisture (both from the air, but more so from rain and the soil). They continue to absorb moisture until they reach their ‘field capacity’ (cannot absorb any more moisture). This is when they are at their largest size and contain the most water.

If you fertilise your lawn, the fertiliser dissolves slowly as your lawn is watered. This nutrient laden water permeates down through your lawn, into the root zone and is also soaked up by the crystals and stored.

By spreading out the WATER ABSORBING CRYSTALS over your prepared surface before rolling out your lawn, they are placed right in the root zone of the lawn. Therefore, once the crystals reach field capacity (with both water and nutrients) the lawn’s roots will have tapped into each crystal and are able to draw on this water and nutrient supply as they require until the next rain or irrigation cycle.

In effect, this will add several days to your watering cycle when compared to an identical lawn that does not have any crystals. If you don’t need to water your lawn as much, you are saving money straight away. Also take into account that you will not then need to fertilise as often because the crystals save nutrients as they save water. Therefore you will save money on fertilising as well.

In combination with the money you will save on water and fertiliser, you will also save a substantial amount of time. So instead of having to water and fertilise your lawn and garden, you can spend more time enjoying it. Now you have a lawn that maintains peak condition for longer with a substantial amount less work, time and money.

This product will last for up to 3 years. It is completely non toxic and completely biodegradable.

     

Application Rates

 

LAWNS: 1kg per 100m² spread evenly over the surface before rolling out your new lawn.  For seeded lawns, rake the same amount evenly into the surface to a depth of approximately 15 to 20 mm.

PLANTS: Add 2 or 3 pinches (approximately 2 to 3 teaspoons) mixed into the planting hole under and around the roots of your new plant or tree.

Results may vary according to evenness of spreading, top soil quality & quantity used under the lawn, length of watering (irrigation) – i.e. very short light watering will be absorbed and used by the top layer of lawn and will not soak down to the crystals as much where they can be effective – a very slow and deep watering program provides the best results.

   

Despite any disclaimer, applied properly, this product will show a substantial improvement in your lawn’s appearance whilst saving water and fertiliser when compared to an identical lawn without WATER ABSORBING CRYSTALS.
